Plans & limits

Plans are per workspace (organization), never per seat, and you pay for completed envelopes only. Test mode is free and unlimited on every plan. Current prices are on the pricing page.

Pay-as-you-go is Free with a card on file. Metered add-ons cost the same on every paid plan: SMS codes $0.10, ID verification $2.50, EU qualified signatures $4.50.

How limits show up in the API

Usage is counted when an envelope completes, in live mode only, per billing period (the subscription period, or the calendar month in UTC on Free).
A Free workspace that has completed its included envelopes gets 402 payment-required from POST /v1/envelopes, with an upgradeUrl. Envelopes already sent can still be completed.
Using a feature that is not on the plan returns 403 plan-upgrade-required, also with an upgradeUrl. That includes more viewers on an envelope than features.viewersPerEnvelope allows (null = unlimited; CC recipients don’t count) and viewerDocumentAccess without features.viewerDocumentAccess.
GET /v1/billing (any member, or an API key) returns the plan, this period’s usage, whether sending is blocked (sendingBlocked), and the workspace’s entitlements:

GET /v1/billing/subscription is the same without invoice and entitlement details; GET /v1/usage?period=YYYY-MM (with billing:manage) returns the metered usage of a period. Subscriptions are changed in the dashboard.
